BURP GUIDE - Yabu Miso Katsu

by - June 06, 2013

Something amazing happened recently... (and I think I should add "something random" too  HAHA! - just because I have no luck in such raffles) ...okay, I know, you guessed it right.  I was picked in an online giveaway!  Winner!  I believe its the second time already.  I remember winning in the SM Parisian launch too.  But this time, its bigger!  HAHA!  Why?  Because its FOOD!  Maybe biggest too?!! Because its YABU!  My favorite place to pig-out.  (oh, that's "our") :P

I got the chance to try one of their new dishes, Miso Katsu.  Honestly, I got shy because... hello?? imagine going to a restaurant and ask for your free meal?  Can't relate?  Okay, maybe it's just me.  HAHA!  No hassle claiming my prize.  Na-ah!  Just the same with our usual, monthly Yabu visit. :)

Okay, I won't bore you with all that intro.  Here it is.  Get ready to drool. :)

"Our Miso Katsu is your choice of rosu, hire or Kurobuta pork cutlet topped with sweet miso sauce, sprinkled generously with spring onions and ground sesame seeds, all served on a Japanese hot plate."

Here's a thing I love about Yabu.  They always excite people with new dishes.  I know it's normal for all food business, but maybe the fact that they have this core offering, "Katsu" and they don't mind bringing in more/all japanese dishes in one time, maintains their overall quality.  And not to mention they are sooooooo active in social media.  Cheers! :)

It came in the usual set, but I didn't expect the hot plate thing.  :)

By the way, just want to share this.  Before, I was addicted to only one thing, the sauce.  Now, even the cabbage too!  HAHA!  What's next?  The miso soup?  Oink!

I expected a sweeter sauce as the description says, but it's kinda salty.  It's not overwhelming though.  Maybe not soaking the katsu too much will help.  I'm still going for their usual sauce. :)

We ordered salmon too, first time to try it as well.  Kris had his favorite Tonkatsu set.

June is a bit hectic for us, so most likely, our next visit would be July.  How about you?  Planning to eat at Yabu anytime soon?  Aside from Miso Katsu, they also have Chilled Japanese Spinach Salad, Iidako Salad (say hello, to a baby octupus!) and U.S. Rosu Katsu.  More info here.  Another good news (for south friends), they will be opening a branch at SM Aura.  Yay!

What do you think?

P.S.
A piece of advice, if you're not yet following Yabu's Facebook Page, like them now!  Who knows?   Maybe a free meal will surprise you too.  :)
